The Embassy of the State of Eritrea in South Africa

Mission Statement

The over-all mission of the Embassy of the State of Eritrea to South Africa is based on the goal of:

“ Creating a visible presence, promotion of constructive engagement and develop the strong influence of Eritrea in the region with the intention of laying a foundation for a more proactive interaction and cooperation at different levels and various areas.”

Tasks

The Embassy, on the basis of the above stated Mission , has expanded its presence and raised its visibility substantially in the last three years (2004-2006). This has been based on an overall plan developed in the mid of 2003. On the basis of the above stated mission and the plan, the Embassy of the State of Eritrea in South Africa (and countries of accreditation in the Region) has worked for the realization of the following tasks:-

•  Step up efforts to establish strategic relations that reflect the national security and economic interests of Eritrea through focused priorities and targets

•  Diversify the scope of the relationships and activities of the Mission so as to optimize effects and promote engagements that reflect the context and needs of Eritrea

•  Maximize the utilization of resources so as to promote efficient and effective mission services

•  Serve the interest and well being of Eritrean nationals in the region and raise their responsible participation in national development

Coverage and Accreditation

The Embassy of the State of Eritrea in South Africa was established in 1995. For the first time since it was established, the Mission has got accredited in seven SADC countries including South Africa , Namibia , Zimbabwe , Mozambique , Zambia , Mauritius and Angola . Warm and cordial relation has, however, been established with the Missions of the other countries in the Southern Africa Region as well.

Map Guide

From Central Town take Church Street eastward and at the intersection of Church Street and Duncan Street , (at the traffic light) turn left

Follow Duncan Street and continue to Gordon Street

At the intersection of Gordon Street and Soutpansberg Road (at the traffic light) turn right

After the next traffic light in Soutpansberg Road , turn right and immediately turn left to Cobham Road (you will leave the ground Tennis Field to your right)

The Embassy is at the corner of Cobham Road

Office Hours 

Embassy office hours are the following:

Monday to Friday – 08:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 17:00

Consular services are given are given during the mornings only from 08:00 to 12:00

The embassy is closed during official South Africa holidays and the following Eritrean holidays:

•  Independence Day – May 24

•  Martyr's Day – June 20

•  Liberation Struggle Day – September 1
